[24] Michael Wolf was a prosperous farmer and landowner in Putnam County, IL
He owned 200 acres near Mt Palatine at one time. His home was located in the
SW 1/4 of Section 2, Twp 31, Range 1 W in Putnam County, Il. In addition to
the 160 acres where his home was located he owned another 40 acres in the NE
1/4 of Section 10, Twp 31 N, Range 1 W. His brother, Fredolin Wolf owned land
that cornered with his land on the SW corner being located in the NE 1/4 of
section 10, Twp 31N, Range 1 W in Putnam county, IL.
Michael Wolf was an unusually large man. Barbara (Lorenz) Wolf, his
daughter-in-law, was always concerned about her children when Michael came to
visit. Michael always wanted them to sit on his lap but, because he was so
large, he really did not have any lap to sit on!! He weighed 400 lbs!
When Michael Wolf died at his home a special casket was required. Because
of its size, it could not be carried through the doorway in normal fashion so
a large front window was removed and his body taken out through the window.
Michael and Eva Wolf are both buried in St Mary's Cemetery, Mt Palatine, IL.
There is some question about Eva Wolf's name. Her tombstone says Eva but
the 1870 and 1880 census extracts say Margaret. Both are probably correct,
her name was Eva Margaret Wolf. There was once question about Eva Wolf's
maiden name. The best information says it was Ahmerein.
Victor Wolf came into possession of Old Prospect Place and he built an
addition to the house for his mother and that is where Eva Wolf lived until
her death in 1918.

[25] Victor Wolf and Louisa Ziegler were married at Mt Palatine, IL with witnesses
being Bernard Matern and Mary Matern. The priest was W Ruhenbuch.
Louisa (Ziegler) Wolf and Catherine (Ziegler) Wolf, wife of Peter Wolf were sisters.

[26] Victor Wolf was a quiet, round, bald, man, short of stature and always
wore a mustache. He was born in LaSalle County, IL and lived most of his
life at the Old Prospect Place,
Section 8,. in Hope Township. After their marriage in Mt Palatine Catholic church,
Victor and Louisa (Ziegler) Wolf lived on Old Prospect Place
which they purchased in 1918 after the death of
Eva Wolf (Victor's mother). In 1921 they purchased a home in Lostant, IL.
Victor lived there until his death in 1929. Louisa spent her later years
in the Rutland Nursing Home, Rutland, Illinois, until her death on September
22, 1954. Both are buried in St Mary's Cemetery, Hope township, LaSalle
County, Illinois

[28] Theresa and Anton Goetz were the parents of Father Fidelis Goetz OSB a priest
at Conception Abbey, Conception, MO.
Theresa and Anton are buried in St Joseph's Cemetery, Wesley, IA

This is what B F Reed's History of Kossuth County, published in 1913 has
to say about Frank Wolf:
"Frank Wolf left his parents home at 22 and farmed for himself in Putnam
County, Ilinois. In 1900, he came to Kossuth County, IA, and bought 120
acres which he improved by tiling. He also rented and farmed 180 acres. He
was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Western Catholic Union. He
supported the Democratic Party and served as a school director. It is stated
that he was an indefatigable worker, of practical ideas and systematic
methods. Also, his strongest characteristics were diligence and
perseverance."
Frank Wolf was a Catholic. He was a cheerful, round, baldheaded, blue
eyed man. He was very hard of hearing, but he liked to listen to the
Sunday PM radio broadcasts of Father Coughlin who was very popular in 1930s.
In his last years he lived at Lakota, IA, with his daughter Laura and her
husband Urban Hommerding and their family and that is where he died.
