Raymond Wolf's baptism sponsors were Louis Matern & Franceska (Frances) Lorenz
Franceska Lorenz was Raymond's Grandmother. Baptism with a sponsor by proxy
was rare in those days and it can be reasonably assumed that Franceska was
present at his baptism. Had she been sponsor by proxy it would have been so
stated. This indicates that at least on one occassion she got to Iowa to
visit her two Daughters Barbara Wolf & Agnes Wolf.

The mother of Calista (Elsbecker) Wolf was in the great Chicago Fire.
She was then three years old. The family saved two chairs and a length of
rug which they draped over the two chairs for a bit of shelter from the rain
which began falling.
They went into the prairie outside the city to get away from the fire.
There they hired a wagon into which they put some of the few things they had
salvaged from the fire. Their things were never delivered ! They
subsisted on some bread and ham which they had managed to save.
Raymond and Calista Wolf had no children.
