Robert Mayer attended the eight grades offered at St Benedict's parochial
school. Following graduation he chose to farm and was very active in 4-H as
a member and later as a leader. In 1948 he became ill with tuberculosis and
entered the sanatorium at Oakdale, IA. He spent 33 months there and received
the then new drug streptomycin along with pneumo-therapy. He has had no
recurrence of Tuberculosis since that time.
Robert and his father had developed a fine herd of brown Swiss dairy cows
which were eventually sold. Robert has done various kinds of work in
agricultural groups in the community and, at present, serves on the ASCS
(Agriculture Stabilization Conservation Service) for the county. Robert and
his wife left the farm home where he was born and where they had lived and
moved to Algona, IA. They attend St Cecelia's Catholic Church there.

[345] Bernice (Thill) Mayer was, at various times, a telephone operator, worked
in an airplane factory during WW II, worked as a beauty operator, as a
saleslady in a fabric department and, at present (9/94), works at the Algona
Public Library

[407] Barbara Sue and William Joseph Mayer were twins. Barbara is Supervisor of
Forensic Toxicology for Medtox Laboratories, Inc of St Paul, MN. She
graduated from Bishop Garrigan High School, Algona, IA in 1973 and also from

[408] William "Bill" Mayer received his education at the St Benedict Parochial
School & graduated from Bishop Gerrigan High School, Algona, IA in 1973. He
and his family live in the house built for his grandparents, William & Esther
(Wolf) Mayer in 1922 and he farms the land previously cultivated by both his
father and grandfather in Sec 13, Irvington Twp,. Kossuth Cop, IA. He is a
member of St Benedict Catholic Church & serves as parish director The address

[409] Nancy (Mayer) Conley is a graduate of Bishop Garrigan High School, Algona
IA and a gradutate of the University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA. She is

Construction Co, Algona, IA
John graduated from Algona High School and attended Iowa State University
at Ames,. IA. He is member of the Local Gopher College Rugby team and is
Vice-President of All Iowa Rugty Association. He and his family are members
of St Bendict church and live in the former home of his grandparents, William
& Esther (Wolf) Mayer in Sec 18, Prairie Twp, Kossuth County, IA
